Summary of the Players Cup Backgammon Circuit's Annual Star Race
In the Players Cup Backgammon Circuit, we've designed a comprehensive star point system that truly values and rewards every participant. Here's how it works: Each participant receives race stars for Participation, Wins, and Placing in the event.
Participation Stars: Each player is granted one race star for every match played, highlighting the circuit's commitment to recognizing the dedication of all members and reemphasizing the importance that all matches be played.
Win Stars: Players earn stars based for each win. The number of Win Stars is determined by the length of the match, calculated using the formula (match length + 1) / 2. For example, a 7-point match is worth 4 Win Stars.
Rank Stars: This aspect of the star system is tailored to recognize top performers. Rank Stars are awarded to the top eight places, or half of the participants if there are fewer than 16 players in an event. The total number of Rank Stars awarded is calculated as follows: Number of Players x 5.
Rank Stars are distributed as a percentage of 64, following a hierarchy from first to eighth place: 18, 12, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3. In the event of tied placements, the points are shared equally among the tied players. For example, if first and second place are shared, both winning players would receive half of 5 x ((16 + 12) / 64) as Rank Points. Events with under 16 people receive half the Rank Stars. (Rank stars x .5)
Year-Long Winners and End-of-Season Awards: In addition to event-based awards, the Players Cup Backgammon also honors those players who excel consistently throughout the year. Our year-long winners, determined by the cumulative stars earned over multiple events, receive special recognition for their dedication and skill. At the conclusion of the season, the top three players will be awarded trophies, celebrating their remarkable achievements and sustained excellence on the circuit.
Players Cup Champion: Among these year-long winners, the player with the highest cumulative stars will earn the prestigious title of Players Cup Champion. This esteemed accolade crowns them as the circuit's most outstanding player, embodying the spirit of skill, dedication, and sportsmanship that defines Players Cup Backgammon.

Iron Star Legacy: The pinnacle of our circuit's recognition is the coveted Iron Star, a lifetime legacy achievement, awarded to the player who outright wins an event. If the top spot is shared, each participating player receives a fraction of an Iron Star. It's important to note that Iron Stars are only granted when a player has reaches a full Iron Star. Events with under 16 people receive half Iron Star credit for winning.
